Raise 10 million donations to provide emergency financial assistance to the needy 

Chairman Wen Yingyi of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals said that the hospital has been working hard to support the public in fighting the epidemic. "The first and second phases of the anti-epidemic measures introduced by this hospital in the past were formulated in response to the epidemic situation at the time. Thanks to the assistance of all parties, this hospital successfully raised the "anti-epidemic emergency short-term economic assistance plan" in May and June. Raising a total of 10 million donations and a large amount of anti-epidemic materials, so that the hospital can have sufficient resources for timely and flexible deployment when the third wave of epidemics breaks out. "

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals raised up to 10 million donations to provide one-time emergency short-term financial support to more than 1,000 eligible service users and their families. Nearly 400 applications were approved in the first round, and none of the supported applications received CSSA , Including single-parent families, families with confirmed cases, double-elder families, and other unemployed people who are the backbone of their families and are engaged in the industries most affected by the epidemic. Applicants of the relevant scheme can receive a subsidy of up to 10,000 yuan, while families with financial difficulties and confirmed cases of COVID-19 can receive a subsidy of up to 20,000 yuan. Due to the overwhelming response and the application quota for the assistance program is full, the hospital will approve the remaining applications as soon as possible.

Stable supply, mask factory put into production

The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals thanks Dr. Lu Zhihe, Chairman of K. Wah International Group Co., Ltd. through his "K. Wah International Anti-epidemic Fund", to set up two mask production lines in its Jockey Club Yijin Comprehensive Occupational Rehabilitation Center to achieve stable masks Supply target. The production line has been certified by ASTM Level I, II and III in the United States and has been put into production in July. At present, the monthly output of the mask workshop is about 500,000, with a maximum output of 2.2 million, and it has created 20 training places for the disabled.

In addition, with the support of the Home Affairs Department and other enthusiastic organizations, talents and organizations, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals has collected more than 800,000 surgical masks in recent months, and 150,000 will be distributed to taxis in batches from early August. And minibus drivers, 100,000 patients to the hospital’s medical service unit, 100,000 to low-income students, 30,000 to the hospital’s property tenants, and 420,000 to the elderly, low-income families and other disadvantaged groups To relieve their pressure on collecting anti-epidemic supplies.

Quickly mobilize to support community testing and food package distribution

Executive Director Su Youan said: "This hospital has always maintained a highly flexible anti-epidemic strategy to deal with repeated epidemics. When the third wave of epidemics broke out, the hospital immediately responded to the government’s announcement according to the established third-stage anti-epidemic strategy. The management of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, as always, uses efficient communication, rapid mobilization and careful allocation to make the best use of resources for the communities and areas that need support most." 

In order to speed up community testing as much as possible to trace contacts and cut off the transmission chain, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals mobilized 40 staff to attend over 150 attendances within 6 days to support the Tsz Wan Shan testing program launched by the Home Affairs Department and take charge of collection testing The role of bottle and referral is to forward the sample to the Public Health Testing Center of the Department of Health for review when a positive sample is found.

In order to reduce the chance of elders living alone or with double-elder families being infected by going out, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, with funding from the Home Affairs Department, partnered and mobilized more than 300 staff and volunteers to distribute to public housing estates in East Kowloon. Food packs are distributed to elderly people living alone or twin-elder families in the district. It is estimated that about 30,000 food packs will be distributed. The first phase of the plan was launched in Ping Shek Village on July 23, and about 5,000 food packs were distributed on August 1. In addition, with funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, a total of 800 masks and food packs will be distributed to the helpless elderly and disadvantaged communities in Sha Tin and Eastern Districts in August.
