The accident occurred near Imsouane, a famous surf spot on the Atlantic coast, when a coach overturned on national road 1, the authorities said, quoted by the Moroccan press agency ( MAP). The injured were hospitalized and an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident, according to the same source. According to preliminary data, " the speeding would be at the origin of this accident ", it is underlined.

Nearly 3,500 people die each year in accidents on the roads of the kingdom, a country of 35 million inhabitants. The authorities have implemented various measures to try to combat the scourge of road insecurity, in particular in the wake of the worst bus accident in the history of the kingdom (42 dead), which occurred in 2012. A " national strategy of road safety ”was launched with the aim of halving the number of accidents by 2026.
