" With the assistance of the local police, PST arrested today in the south-eastern county of Viken (south-eastern Norway, editor's note) a man wanted abroad ", told AFP a spokesperson for the Norwegian Home Intelligence Service (PST), Trond Hugubakken. " He is a Norwegian citizen and he is wanted in a criminal case in Italy ", he added.
According to the public broadcaster NRK, it is about a man of forty years condemned by the Italian justice for a plan of attack. He is said to be linked to Mullah Krekar, Najumuddin Faraj Ahmad of his real name, an Iraqi Kurd who took refuge in Norway but whom the Nordic country extradited in March to Italy.
Krekar was also sentenced by the Italian justice to 12 years in prison for having led the jihadist network Rawti Shax, allegedly linked to the Islamic State (IS) organization. Dismantled in 2015, this network would have planned attacks in the West.
