Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lewis Hamilton suffered a broken front left tire on their cars last Sunday over the final of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. While the first two lost the second and the body on, the hexacampeón almost lost the victory because he crossed the finish line on three wheels. After this chaotic situation, Pirelli investigated what failed to generate these breaks and disclosed the reasons in a statement.

"The key reason is due to specific race circumstances, which led to the extremely long use of the second set of tires," the company said.

And the writing added: "The second safety car led almost all the teams to anticipate their pit stops and to carry out a long final relay of about 40 laps, which is more than three-fourths of the total race distance, on one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar. "

Pirelli assured that the increase in pace of the cars of this 2020 season generated that the last turns were "especially hard as a result of the highest loads that tires have never had to bear in F1."

Likewise, in the statement from the brand supplying tires for Formula 1, he did not give any explanation for the puncture in the right rear tire that caused the mistake and the strong blow of Daniil Kvyat's AlphaTauri.

Pirelli maintains its choice of C2, C3 and C4 tires (a softer compound than last weekend) for next Sunday's 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.

But it will review the recommendations of number of turns per tire and will increase the minimum pressure of the same.
