From La Zarzuela to the Dominican Republic, step by step, this was the itinerary of the King Emeritus of Spain, Juan Carlos  I, to his exile in a Caribbean paradise, persecuted by numerous corruption scandals.

The Royal House made public on Monday the intention of King Juan Carlos I to leave Spain to release pressure from Felipe VI. The Vanguard has learned that the king emeritus left Zarzuela on Sunday after writing the letter to his son, announcing that he was leaving. He spent the night in the Pontevedra town of Sanxenxo, a place he has frequented in recent years to sail to watch. On Monday morning, he traveled by car to Porto and from there flew to the Dominican Republic.

The intention of Juan Carlos I is to stay in a residence in the Casa de Campo complex , in La Romana, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, for a few weeks.

His stay will be temporary since it is not about settling in this destination permanently, but as he mentioned in the letter sent to his son, the trip corresponds to his "willingness to move, at the moment, outside of Spain".

The Fanjul, a well-known well-to-do family in Latin America thanks to sugar plantations, will act as hosts during the King's father's stay in the Dominican Republic.
