The total rainfall for the whole month was only 125.4 mm, which was about 33% of the normal value of 376.5 mm. The accumulated rainfall in the first seven months of this year was 1088.8 millimetres, which was about 26% less than the normal value of 1473.3 millimetres in the same period.

From July 11 to July 30, the weather in Hong Kong continued to be generally fine and extremely hot. With plenty of sunshine and breeze, the temperature at the Observatory rose to the highest level of 35.3 degrees in the entire month on July 23. Under the continuous high temperature, the extremely hot weather warning lasted for 467 hours from July 11 to 30, which is the longest effective time record since the warning signal was launched in 2000.
