The United States has recorded 1,302 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the benchmark Johns Hopkins University count Tuesday.
This brings the total number of deaths in the country to more than 156,000 since the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic, which appeared in China in December.
The United States also noted 53,847 new cases of infection in a day, for an official total toll of 4.77 million, according to figures, updated continuously, from the University based in Baltimore.
The country is by far the most affected in the world by the pandemic, but President Donald Trump once again adopted a resolutely optimistic tone on Tuesday, assuring that the United States had better figures than other countries in the world.
