" We can no longer send young police officers leaving their home in Paris or in the suburbs, in conditions of violence much higher than what they have known, without further training, " said the Minister of the Interior. “ They are not always ready to maintain order. They sometimes have to buy a protective helmet or their own pedestrian camera themselves in supermarkets! », Adds the Minister.
" More " training
" It is therefore not just a question of the plan for maintaining order and the technique of questioning, it is also the police officers who must be better trained, better equipped and whose part of the mission, from now on, even when they are on the public highway, is to maintain order, ”he said. “ The so-called violent crisis of the yellow vests has shaken up habits. The ministry must adapt, ”according to Gerald Darmanin.

In addition, the minister decided that, when an administrative sanction is proposed by the IGPN, " the hierarchical authority has one month to respond and take action, either by applying the sanction, or by justifying its refusal " . “ In the most serious cases, in the event of disagreement on the follow-up to be given, it is up to the ministerial authority to decide. It seems to me to be a measure of common sense, ”he adds.
During his hearing by the Law Commission on July 28, the minister declared that " if the facts are true ", in the case of the police officers accused of racism in the Paris court, he wanted to understand why the sanctions proposed by the IGPN are " not yet implemented ".
