The death toll from the massive explosion that shook the Lebanese capital Beirut rose to 113 today (Tuesday). More than 4,000 people have been injured and hospitalized in various hospitals in the Lebanese capital. The Lebanese cabinet declared a two-week state of emergency in the capital while the military issued house arrest warrants against the heads of the port administration in the capital, pending the end of the commission of inquiry into the blast.

The cabinet also announced an immediate aid program worth 100 billion Lebanese pounds, an amount officially equal to $ 66 million, but in fact, at market value, worth only $ 13 million, due to the hyper-inflation from which the Lebanese currency suffers.

Pictures revealed in the Lebanese media showed the plenary hall of the Lebanese parliament and the great damage done to the interior of the building, which was built at the beginning of the twentieth century, during the explosion that took place not far from it. The satellite company Imagesat International has released satellite images that reveal the extent of the damage caused to the port complex as a result of the explosion.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on Twitter: "I send condolences to the people of Lebanon on behalf of the Government of Israel. Yesterday was a very great disaster in Lebanon. We are prepared to extend humanitarian aid to Lebanon, as human beings to human beings."

Earlier, the Hezbollah-affiliated news network Al-Miyadin reported that the land tongue on which the exploded warehouse stood had partially collapsed and sank in the sea and now large forces of the Lebanese army and navy are retrieving bodies spilled into the seawater with the remains of the warehouse. Meanwhile, the governor of Beirut estimated to the network of sensations a-Nahar that the value of the damage caused to the city as a result of the explosion is between three and five billion dollars.

State media reported that four nurses at St. George’s Hospital in the city were killed by the blast and that 28 patients at the hospitals were injured to varying degrees. Rescuers also reportedly managed to rescue a living person from the rubble and he was taken to medical care.
