Javier Herrera Valles, former commissioner of the disappeared Mexican Federal Police, is satisfied that the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) admitted his case regarding the complaint against the Mexican State for human rights violations. Herrera Valles was arrested in 2008 after disclosing to the media the alleged corruption of Genaro García Luna, who was then the federal secretary of Public Security. García Luna is arrested in New York pending a hearing next October.
