The Lebanese government on Wednesday (August 5th) declared a state of emergency for two weeks for the city of Beirut, the day after the deadly explosions in the port which caused unprecedented damage in the capital.

The government has decreed " a state of emergency in the city of Beirut for two weeks ", announced at a press conference the Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad, specifying that " a supreme military power will be immediately in charge of the prerogatives in terms of security ”.
