Another crisis has been avoided, meanwhile: Coalition chairman MK Miki Zohar announced today (Wednesday) that Likud members will be absent from the vote on the overcoming ruling in the Knesset plenum.

"I am sorry to announce that my position was not accepted," MK Zohar tweeted on his Twitter account. "The Likud will not vote in favor of the overcoming clause, but will abstain from voting. After inquiries and tests, it was clear that voting for the law (which also has quite a few controversies within the right) would certainly lead to elections. Out of a genuine desire to try and stabilize the coalition and prevent elections, it was decided to be absent. "

The bill was initiated by MK Ayelet Shaked (right), who over the past week has called on Likud members to support the law, some of which have been expressed in the past.

Earlier this week, after it was reported in "Israel Today" that MK Zohar promotes Likud support for the law, the chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu, MK Avigdor Lieberman, announced that his faction would not support the law. The Likud also attacked the bill, and MK Ariel Kellner He called it "just a troll," he said.

As you may recall, two weeks ago, blue-and-white support for the bill banning conversion therapies almost led to the dissolution of the government. However, even if the coalition now avoids a crisis, the big controversy over the budget issue (one-year according to the Likud's position or biennial according to the blue-and-white position) remains the same and if it is not resolved by August 25, the Knesset will dissolve and Israel will go to the fourth election. a year and a half.
