(CNN Spanish) - The Argentine justice processed this Tuesday the former head of the federal intelligence agency, Gustavo arribas, and his second in the body, Silvia Majdalani, in the case investigating the alleged illegal espionage of the current vice president of the country, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and the Instituto Patria, one of the headquarters of Kirchnerism in Buenos Aires.

Judge Juan Pablo Auge accused both former officials for the alleged presentation of false reports or based on false information before the justice system and before the bicameral commission that deals with intelligence matters in the Argentine Congress, with the alleged objective of justifying the follow-ups to Fernández de Kirchner.

According to the ruling that CNN agreed to, the events occurred in 2018, during the presidency of Mauricio Macri. In response to CNN inquiries, the former president and his spokesman have declined to comment on the case.

Both Arribas and Majdalani argued that the surveillance at the home of the Instituto Patria and Fernández de Kirchner was carried out in the framework of an internal investigation "to prevent possible attacks during international events that took place in Buenos Aires" and in the context of of "criminal intelligence tasks". Furthermore, they denied having falsified case documents or having submitted reports with false information.
