A police officer died on the night of August 5 to 6 in Le Mans (Sarthe), shortly before 4 a.m., during an intervention with a drunk driver. The official was dragged by the vehicle of the individual who was trying to flee, according to information from Franceinfo.

Three emergency police officers had been called by the fire department around 3:40 a.m. to pick up a drunk driver, who had fallen asleep at the wheel. At the time of the intervention, while the police officer was trying to remove the keys from the ignition, the individual fled, he dragged the sergeant for several meters before he hit a wall.
The official was 43 years old, he died on the spot, he was the father of three daughters. The driver was arrested.
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin announced in a tweet that he would go to Le Mans this Thursday morning. He is expected around 10:30 am at the police station. “ My thoughts are with his family, loved ones, as well as his colleagues, ” he wrote.
