"The incident is in line with the behavior of the United States and Israel in recent years," an Iranian official said yesterday (Thursday) in reference to an explosion in the port of Beirut, which led to hundreds of deaths and thousands injured this week.

Iranian Security Council Secretary Mohsan Razai was quoted in Arab media as saying the Lebanese disaster was highly suspicious and called for it in the context of replacing the military war with an economic war, and the war on livelihood replacing the nuclear bomb. This is against the background of the Western sanctions policy against Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

The Iranian official accused the United States and Israel of implementing what he described as the "Hiroshima" of livelihood and flour. " Raday said the Trump administration's policies, unlike its predecessors Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, favor economic war over military war. "Trump thinks a nuclear bomb and military means have lost their effectiveness, giving priority to the economic war," he noted.

On the results of the explosion in Beirut, Radai said that they are similar to the results of the American measures in Lebanon, referring to the deterioration of the value of the Lebanese pound following the sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Sheriff said yesterday that "nuclear and Israeli weapons threaten the region. Sheriff tweeted:" On this day 75 years ago, the United States became the first and only country to use nuclear weapons against innocent civilians. "Nuclear and Israeli weapons pose a threat to our region."

Meanwhile, the Iranian embassy in Beirut announced that three Iranian planes flew yesterday a group of 37 medical personnel, and a truck with medical equipment and food, in addition to a mobile hospital. An Iranian Red Crescent spokesman also said the organization had set up two bank accounts to collect donations to help disaster victims.
