100 days after the disappearance of Facundo Astudillo Castro, the Secretary of Human Rights, Horacio Pietragalla starred this Friday together with the Minister of Security, Sabina Frederic, in a virtual exhibition before a plenary of Deputies' committees in which, referring to In the case of the young man who was seen for the last time on April 30, he accused Macrismo for the disappearance of Santiago Maldonado and criticized the police officer Luis Chocobar.
After Frederic's presentation, full of data but with few definitions, Pietragalla opted for graphics and slides similar to those used by President Alberto Fernández in his reports on the quarantine. So far, informative exhibitions on institutional violence, under the watchful eye of legislators from their computers.
"Unfortunately, due to issues that transcend the family, it was not possible to act quickly. The first complaint comes in the first days of June. The complaint for whereabouts. But Pietragalla threw fuel on the fire of the plenary when, at the end of his presentation, he took the opportunity to question the opposition, and asked the deputies not to speculate in order to obtain political gain.
"Our government is sensitive to this issue and we are never going to receive a policeman who shoots weapons at an individual from behind ; we are not going to send the (intelligence) services, we are not going to say that Facundo is in a city because they are all similar to Facundo (in reference to when they were looking for Santiago Maldonado). You don't have to be speculators ", launched Pietragalla.
It was more than an hour and a half after a plenary session that was stipulated that it would last for two hours, and the deputies had not yet spoken. The one who launched the first criticism was Fernando Iglesias, who questioned the president of the commission: "He told me that we were going to have a two-hour meeting and we have been listening to the ruling party for an hour and a half. Tell me," he launched with irony.
From then on, one by one the deputies who were on the list of speakers repeated cross accusations. Cases of institutional violence during the current government, if the speaker was an opposition deputy; or the cases during the macrismo if the one who had the floor was from the Frente de Todos.
"Do not take off your coat on responsibility in institutional violence," the deputy of Together for Change, Luis Petri, claimed to the ruling party. Before, Leonardo Grosso asked "a bit of seriousness" to deal with "the problem of institutional violence" which, according to him, "is a debt of democracy."
Frederic and Pietragalla participated in a virtual way in the Internal Security commissions, chaired by Paula Penacca (Frente de Todos) and Human Rights, led by Hugo Yasky.
The lower house approved at dawn last Saturday, in its last session, a statement, in which it expressed its "concern" over the disappearance of Astudillo Castro, who was last seen on April 30 when he left the town.
