USA lifts restriction on travel abroad 1:07
(CNN Spanish) - The United States Department of State raised a global travel alert on Thursday due to the coronavirus, but still recommends that its citizens not travel to 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
On March 19, the U.S. Department of State issued a global alert Level 4 Notice: Do Not Travel, the highest travel notice in the country, urging Americans not to travel abroad because of the covid-19 pandemic.
“With health and safety conditions improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the Department is reverting to our previous system of country-specific travel advice levels (with levels 1-4 depending on the conditions of the specific country), to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions, ”the State Department said.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, the countries hardest hit by the covid-19 pandemic to this day in Latin America and the Caribbean are Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia.
Despite the State Department lifting travel guidance, US travelers are still restricted from traveling to some countries as the number of cases and deaths from coronavirus continues to rise in the United States.
For example, the European Union has banned the entry of American tourists, the United Kingdom requires a quarantine of 14 days after arrival in the country, and Canada and Mexico have non-essential travel restrictions, at least until the end of August.
