The obligation to wear a mask was decided until August 31 in order to " break the chains of contamination ", explained Cécile Guyader, prefect delegate for defense and security at a press conference. Three other municipalities in Ille-et-Vilaine are affected by this ban, Vitré, Saint-Malo and Cancale. In these last two towns, located on the coast, the prefectural decrees take up decisions already taken by the town halls.
Outdoor markets, flea markets and flea markets also concerned
In addition, the mask becomes compulsory on Saturday in all open-air markets, flea markets and clearance sales in Ille-et-Vilaine. Rather spared by the first wave of Covid 19 in the spring, Brittany is facing an increase in positive cases, in particular the department of Ille-et-Vilaine which alone represents " nearly 50% of new cases detected " .
“ We are seeing a relaxation that concerns us a bit. Until July 10, we had less than 20 new cases every month, since July 10 we have more than 500 cases, ”said Ms. Guyader. The Director General of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Stéphane Mulliez underlined " a deterioration " of the health situation but which is " not alarming ". And at this point, " the hospitalizations are stable, " he said. The ARS announced the expansion of screening capacities, with three mobile trucks that will be deployed in the department.
