A number of Lebanese army and security personnel were injured during the continuous violent protests in downtown Beirut tonight, which included the storming of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Expatriates, Economy, Environment, and Energy, and the Banks Association building and damaging their properties.

Lebanese media reported that the army and security forces had recorded injuries due to a number of protesters throwing stones and bottles at them, at a time when reports confirmed the death of a security man after the attack on him.

While the Lebanese army is doing its part to protect the large numbers of peaceful demonstrators in Martyrs Square in central Beirut, while a number of demonstrators are trying to distort the existing demonstration and turn it into a riot.

These protesters set fire to the offices of the Ministry of Economy, dumped files on them, and caused damage and fire to parts of the Banking Association building.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army was able to evacuate dozens of demonstrators from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Beirut after they occupied it for hours and threatened to continue its occupation.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that members of the army were deployed at the entrance to the outside building, at a time when hit-and-run operations took place between a number of protesters and the army in the street parallel to the ministry building.

 The agency also reported that an army force arrived at the Ministry of Energy and Water building and is working to evacuate the demonstrators who continue to threaten to stay in front of the building.

In the same context, the Lebanese Red Cross announced in a statement that it had transferred 63 wounded patients from central Beirut to hospitals in the area, while 175 field workers were treated.
