Landslides and flash floods killed 26 people in South Korea today.
Reuters quoted the Korean Ministry of Interior and Safety as saying that the torrential rains in the country led to landslides and the formation of floods, killing 26 people, while ten people are still missing.
Landslides and torrential rains forced about 5,000 people to leave their homes as torrential rains continued on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, and 12 domestic flights were canceled at Gwangju Airport, southwest of Korea, after the runway was flooded.
South Korea recorded the longest rainy season in 2013, lasting 49 days, and current weather forecasts indicate that this year's rainy season may last longer.
