"As far as we know, the driver accidentally left her key in the car, whereupon the vehicle locked," said the police. The child was still in the back seat of the car, and the mother immediately alerted the emergency services.

At the scene of the incident in Griesheim (Darmstadt-Dieburg district), the rescuers did not hesitate for long. The police said: "With the help of the fire brigade, a window in the car was smashed and the child was freed." To make sure that her child was doing well, the mother and the baby went to a hospital for preventive care.
