Swimming courses at Al-Assad International Swimming Pool in Hama constitute the appropriate opportunity to discover promising materials and talents and work on developing their talent in an appropriate manner in preparation for preparing the champions of the game later.

In early June of this year, a new training course was opened, entitled The Champion Project, which aims to prepare distinguished players to participate with the Hama governorate teams in local tournaments of all age groups.

The international trainer and member of the Supreme Rescue Committee in the Swimming Federation, Emad Eddin Orfali, indicated in a statement to the SANA Sports reporter that 25 trainees have participated in this project, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years, male and female, who are intensively trained and prepared to participate in the upcoming local tournaments, indicating that the participants are trained five Times a week, at a rate of three hours a day.

Orfali pointed out that the participants in this course are taught the principles and basics of free swimming and general fitness and then move to teaching other swimmers such as chest, butterfly and back after their fitness improves, noting that the duration of the course is four months and it is not sufficient to prepare an ideal swimming champion, so we have intensified the exercises. Because there is no closed swimming pool in Hama.

Orfali indicated that the exercises also include avoiding errors in swimming, racing laws, how to start the race, slide with water, and end the rotation for races that exceed a distance of 50 meters, adding that the exercises are carried out in scientific, studied and correct ways and under the supervision of specialists.

Orfali pointed out that this year's session includes a good number of promising talents who have persistence and perseverance to train and participate later in the Republic Championships, which promises a good future for swimming in the governorate, indicating that what impedes the champion project is that the training in it is seasonal during the summer and not annual like the provinces. The other is due to the absence of closed swimming pools in the governorate.

Orfali pointed out that the training courses held by the Lion International Swimming Pool in the past years have contributed to discovering many talents that have emerged and excelled in the local tournaments, so the participation of this number of players in the Champions Project tournaments was due to their following swimming education courses in the past years, calling on the technical committee for the game. To support these tournaments as they constitute an appropriate opportunity to prepare distinguished champions.

For his part, the participant in the course, Omar Sabbagh Al-Shirazi, explained that training in the champions project courses is carried out in a scientific and studied manner, where we learn the principles and arts of all races and the correct ways to practice the game, pointing out that his ambition is to develop his capabilities to ensure participation in local and foreign championships.

Participant Noureddine Arafa pointed out that he learned to swim three years ago and participated in the Republic Championships for Cubs and Olympics last year, and achieved acceptable results in both of them. Nevertheless, he joined this session because he wants to develop his skills to ensure better participation in the upcoming tournaments.
