The coexistence of the two winds does not threaten Hong Kong

According to the Observatory, at 0:00 this morning, the tropical depression gathered about 380 kilometers south-southeast of Dongsha. It is expected to move northward at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, towards the Taiwan Strait to the southeastern part of the mainland.

Although the tropical depression has entered 800 kilometers of Hong Kong and is expected to intensify into a tropical storm tonight, the Observatory believes that there is no direct threat to Hong Kong and stated that the tropical depression will gradually move to the Taiwan Strait to southeastern China today and tomorrow. On Tuesday (11th) it may weaken into a low pressure area, and it is expected to make landfall near Xiamen, Fujian on Tuesday.

The Observatory said that it would closely monitor the development of the tropical depression and its impact on the local weather. It did not mention whether a typhoon signal would be issued. In the past, when a weaker tropical cyclone passed a long distance east of Hong Kong, even within 800 kilometers, the observatory did not send out a typhoon.

At present, there are two winds coexisting in the Northwest Pacific and South China Sea, but neither is expected to threaten Hong Kong. (Screenshot of the Observatory website)

In addition, Tropical Storm Rosa accumulates about 470 kilometers south of Jeju, and is expected to move northward at a speed of about 45 kilometers per hour, crossing the East China Sea and moving toward the Korean Peninsula.
