In the future, gift baskets will be a figurehead for farmers and producers in the Miesbach district: with the pleasure box from the eco-model region.

In the future, gift baskets will be a figurehead for farmers and producers in the Miesbach district: with the pleasure box from the eco-model region.

District - The idea for this came from Stephanie Stiller, eco-model region manager Miesbacher Oberland: "In the past I have seen press reports again and again where local politicians presented a present on the occasion of an anniversary or as a thank you," she explains. The photos showed gift baskets with mostly non-regional branded products. "I thought that it would be much nicer to give away products from the region in the eco-model region."

That is why there is now the “Genusskisterl” from the eco-model region Miesbacher Oberland (ÖMR). The municipalities of the district, the district office and the location marketing company Landkreis Miesbach (SMG) can now give this away as a thank you or on a special occasion, as stated in a press release by the ÖMR. The small wooden boxes should be filled with regional and bio-regional products. The special feature: Not only the content comes from the area, but also the kisterl itself.

The carpenter's workshop of the Oberlandwerkstätten makes them from local wood and refines them. “The gift also includes packaging,” explains Stiller. The mayor and district administrator Olaf von Löwis therefore decided, at the suggestion of the ÖMR, to have the boxes manufactured by the Oberland workshops. They correspond “absolutely to the trend of the time in terms of sustainability”. And: “The recipient gives his box back and it can be used again.” The ÖMR ordered the wooden boxes, provided them with a return notice and delivered them to the municipalities.

Gourmet box: give away regional products from the Miesbacher Oberland

Almost 20 dealers and direct marketers in the district, including machtSINN in Holzkirchen and the natural cheese dairy TegernseerLand in Kreuth, put together the entire gourmet box for the communities. Another ten direct marketers offer suitable specialties for self-filling, the press release says. Important: According to the requirements of the ÖMR, at least 50 percent organic regional food must be in it, the rest may be high-quality regional products. "With the option of individually filling the Kisterl with products from the providers in the respective communities, the communities can support their producers on site," says Stiller. If necessary, the ÖMR advises the municipalities on the selection of products.

Private individuals can also have the Miesbacher Genusskisterl filled

Even private individuals can already borrow a box to give away at the MachtSINN in Holzkirchen, at Feinkost Sollacher in Rottach-Egern and in the Tegernsee Arkaden in Tegernsee and have them equipped with goods worth at least 20 euros. Those responsible emphasize that other retailers who are interested in participating are welcome to contact the ÖMR.

Kathleen Ellmeier, who was responsible for implementing the project as an employee of the ÖMR, explains what the Genusskisterl is supposed to achieve: “The mandate holders have the opportunity to publicly position themselves for the use of regional organic food and also support our family farms . “The mayors and the district administrator are role models for society. "Because organic food from the region is all the rage and should also be used more on this very visible level," says Ellmeier. "Our goal is that more people should follow suit." In the next step, other retailers, companies and associations can offer or give away the box.

A list of the participating dealers and direct marketers can be found on the website of the eco-model regions in Bavaria.
