Many rural families have found a new outlet in their home space to face the current difficult circumstances, including high prices and unjust economic measures imposed on Syria by growing them with some vegetables and legumes that meet their food needs while working to manufacture and sell the surplus at prices that secure a reasonable profit and thus benefit from The family farming support project launched by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and the World Food Organization to improve the standard of living for poor and war-affected families, with the aim of planting the land and investing it in a way that restores life to the land and farmers.

SANA's camera monitored the reality of the project and its developments, and accompanied the beneficiaries who unanimously agreed on their desire to develop the project and expand their lands to achieve good financial returns for the project.

“I’m happy with the summer season that reaped its first fruits today,” said the beneficiary Abu Ibrahim from the Shebaa village, expressing his satisfaction with the results of the project after harvesting the winter season of beans, peas and onions, which sufficed his family from need and need.

Ali Ahmed Al-Fayez from Shebaa village explained that he benefited from the project and planted his land surrounding the house with many summer and winter vegetables, which helped him to daily consumption of vegetables instead of buying them from the markets, pointing out the need for electricity and diesel to operate the drip irrigation network provided to the beneficiary families.

Agriculture needs a sense of responsibility because the plant interacts with the attention assigned to it. This is what Fatima Askar Al-Hassan explained when she talks about her agricultural experience, saying, “After I obtained production supplies from the drip irrigation network and seedlings of eggplant, tomato and pepper, I and my sons cleaned the garden from thorns and gravel, leveled it and cultivated it. The land and its cultivation, explaining that the vegetables must be irrigated continuously, so that the soil does not dry up and the vegetables die, and the weeds and weeds that grow next to it, and insect control.

While Shaker Daghmoush from the town of Al-Maliha called on the rural residents to invest every inch of land in agriculture, develop and develop it to be the optimal supporter of the home economy, referring to his experience in which he added new varieties of vegetables and fruit trees, manual hatching and raising chickens, which doubled the productivity of the project, which reached 35 thousand pounds Each meal is harvested from cucumbers only, and from poultry farming, two bowls of eggs per day, or 7,000 pounds, according to the market price, not to mention the rest of the products.

And on the most important features of the project between the General Director of the Union of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture, Engineer Yahya Muhammad, the health benefits, which were represented by the production of clean vegetables free of hormones and chemicals as a result of the use of natural organic fertilizers, clean and sanitary water, and the use of insecticides with their minimum limits and high-quality specifications of the camel type, which are distinguished by their useful life Long and abundant in production.

He pointed out that the project lasted four years in a row and reached so far to 10 governorates and 27 thousand benefiting families, including integrated rings of interconnected components from home gardens and manufacturing units in addition to raising poultry and domestic fish, pointing out that the drip irrigation network gave the project a stable origin, which helped To expand the invested land area and give good returns to the project, which contributed to its sustainability.

In turn, the director of coordination in the project, Engineer Jamal Akash, explained that the project has achieved the desired goal of increasing the income of the beneficiary families and securing their needs, as the average production profits for the winter season in all the targeted areas reached 256 thousand pounds per family, indicating that the parks are now in their prime of growth, which encouraged the farmer to Return to his land, invest it and develop agriculture in the countryside affected by the war.

With regard to the mechanisms of work in the project, the engineer at the Ghouta Agriculture Department, Madeleine Al-Hadi, who supervises the beneficiaries in the village of Shebaa, indicated that for every 33 families, an engineer is appointed to supervise the work of farmers in order to provide the necessary directives and instructions regarding agriculture and irrigation and guide them on how to deal with the land and crops, explaining that winter seeds have been distributed. Of beans, peas, lettuce, spinach and summer seedlings of excellent and improved varieties that are suitable for the environment and climate in the region, which give a good product in quantity and quality, which are 200 tomato seedlings and 400 eggplant seedlings as well as 400 peppercorn seedlings for the summer season and 5 kilograms of balanced fertilizer for each family of beneficiaries in addition to a network Drip irrigation of an area of ​​600 meters.

The production of beans and peas reached 250 kilograms and onions up to 60 kilograms for each family, according to Al-Hadi, noting that the obstacles that faced the project were the shortage of some equipment such as a pump and a plunger, and the lack of sufficient electricity and diesel to work the drip irrigation network.

The project began in 2017 in five governorates and expanded to 8 governorates, and now it has reached 10 governorates. It also started with a number of 3327 beneficiaries, and expanded to 10 thousand, and has now reached nearly 27 thousand beneficiaries.
