Moving house is a complicated business, but if you work systematically and stay calm you will save frustrations and quite a bit of money. This is how you will do it right

There are quite a few loose ends that are important to close before you can settle in the new house, and we have listed them for you here, in 20 concise and helpful tips.

Close accounts with everyone: this does not mean saying goodbye to friends and family, but reading the electricity company meter and the water meter and delivering calls. If you have a gas meter - do the same.

Transfer accounts in your name: You must transfer the names listed in the property tax and water accounts, otherwise you will find yourself paying the municipality or the corporation accounts that are not yours. If the IEC contract is in your name - transfer it as well.

Cancel or update the insurances: If you are paying for building or contents insurance at a particular address, you must transfer the policy to the new location to which you are moving. Take the opportunity to get some quotes.

Order transport - on time: Do not wait for the last minute, as summer is a busy season in this area and carriers may be busy (and prices will be accordingly).
