Sunday, 09 August 2020, 21:33Police will open a criminal investigation against Yona Abrushmi, a peace activist for Peace Now's Emil Grinzwig, after the interview aired with him on Channel 12 'Ulpan Shishi' last Friday, in which he expressed statements raising suspicion of incitement to violence, police announced tonight (Sunday). The decision to tap into a criminal investigation comes after approval was obtained from the Deputy State Attorney for special positions. The investigation will be conducted at the Tel Aviv District Fraud Unit.
A day after the broadcast of the interview, the Crimean Minister movement filed a complaint with the police against Abrushmi, for serious incitement to murder. The movement demanded that the police arrest Abrushmi immediately, after the movement claimed he called on young people to murder the protesters in Balfour during an interview broadcast last night on "Ulpan Shishi" on News 12. The movement clarified that "if Abrushmi is not arrested and there is violence tonight, the protesters will bleed." .
In an interview aired last Friday, Abrushmi expressed no remorse for the 1983 assassination, calling the protesters against the prime minister "bacteria" and hinting at violence against protesters when he said "there are young people who will go to Balfour, they know what to do".
