      Coalition chairman MK Miki Zohar (Likud) announced today (Sunday) that he has decided to lift the sanctions he imposed on members of his faction, after being absent from the vote to ban conversion treatment in a preliminary reading. "Last week I examined the faction's conduct and to my delight I saw a functioning faction and efficient work," Zohar wrote in letters he sent to Likud members. "Improper conduct in the future may lead us to another rupture, so I appeal to each and every one of you to continue to conduct yourself responsibly."

      "This is a time for unity in our movement," MK Zohar said. "I am sure that Knesset members and ministers understand the magnitude of the responsibility and the importance of factional discipline, and hope that we will not have to deal with similar absences in the future."

      Zohar imposed the sanctions on Likud MKs at the end of July, after a question that was absent from several votes in the plenum. Prominent among them is the vote on the bill banning conversion treatments, which was supported by blue-and-white members who voted against it in violation of coalition discipline.
