The Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion today (Sunday) extended the detention of the five suspects in the stabbing of 23-year-old Josiah Bloom to death on a beach in the city by five days. The main suspect in the stabbing retains the right to remain silent during the interrogation. The security cameras of the Rishon Lezion municipality helped the police reach the suspects in the act, who fled immediately after the incident. The investigation continues.

The murdered woman's mother, Miriam Blum, said her son did not intend to take part in the exchange between the two groups of young people. "He sat on the side and was not involved in the brawl. Those who started the brawl pulled him in and stabbed him," she said. "He was a lovely kid and was at the beginning of his life. He was going to start a business and it was taken from him for no reason. I tell the parents to take care of the kids."

She went on to describe receiving the news of his death. "Every mother has an anxiety that one morning she will receive the bad news," she said. "Two weeks ago my little son was discharged from the army and I was relieved, but here yesterday the police arrived in the morning and they told me my son was stabbed. It's the worst we got there and then we were told what happened."

According to the mother, a few hours before the murder Josiah ate a Friday meal with them. "We talked about his dreams. He already knew what he was going to do to move forward in life. My son was a diamond and was taken from me in a moment of nonsense that should not have been."
