Crime has decreased almost everywhere in the Würmtal, only not in Neuried. The accidents also decreased, but they were more severe. That is the police record for 2019.

Würmtal - The clearance rate is increasing and the number of criminal offenses is decreasing. This is the summary of the crime statistics of the Planegger police station for 2019. "That is good news for us, we hope it will continue like this," says Inspection Manager Thomas Sorgalla. But one thing is already becoming apparent: “2020 will have to be considered separately. There we will have numbers that differ from the current ones. "

In contrast, 2019 compares well with 2018. Sorgalla's deputy, Michael Süßbrich, evaluated the figures and found 16 percent fewer criminal offenses in the past year than in 2018. Instead of 1478 there were only 1239. For comparison: In the area of the Munich police headquarters as a whole, the number fell by only 8.2 percent . The clearance rate in the Planegger inspection area is 52.6 percent and has therefore increased slightly. “That is a good value,” says Süßbrich. In the district of Munich, however, the clearance rate is 57.4 percent and thus even higher.

Most of the crimes were committed in Planegg

In both years, i.e. 2018 and 2019, the most crimes were committed in Planegg (2019: 400), followed by Gräfelfing (2019: 396). Neuried is in third place. While the numbers fell in the other municipalities, they rose from 202 in 2018 to 241 in 2019. Krailling took fourth place (2019: 128). In last place is Stockdorf with 74 offenses in 2019.

The number of break-ins was at the level of the previous year, so Süßbrich. "Fortunately, we have seen a significant decrease in the number of wrong police officers," says Sorgalla. Preventive and educational work with the affected target group as well as with the banks had had an effect. The police have also arrested backers. But there are still people who fall for the scam. "It is still a phenomenon that causes great damage and the old people with their savings."

False police officers would appear in waves. Caution is therefore still required: "Despite the decline, it flares up again and again." Sorgalla makes it clear once again: For police officers it is no problem if they are asked for their ID or if someone first calls the police station to verify the authenticity of the To insure officials.

The decrease in the number of cases involving false police officers meant that the number of frauds in the area of the Planegger inspection decreased overall. They are among the top three crimes with the highest decline, followed by bicycle thefts (from 143 to 93 cases) and bodily harm (from 129 to 96 cases). Especially with regard to the latter, Süßbrich says: "This is a good development."

More property damage than in the previous year

There were increases in property damage in particular, followed by thefts on or from vehicles. "In the Würmtal, we were not spared from the series in which cars were jacked up and all four tires were stolen."

What gives the two Planegg police officers a headache is the fact that the accidents - even if it was around three percent less in 2019 than the year before - had more serious consequences. “What worries us is the number of injuries,” says Sorgalla. While there were a total of 16 seriously and 97 slightly injured accident victims in 2018, last year there were 23 seriously and 114 slightly injured. In addition, a cyclist was killed in Graefelfing. “It is difficult for us to proceed in a targeted manner because there is no accident focus,” explains Sorgalla. There are no particularly dangerous intersections or roads, and nowhere do people drive particularly fast. “We will see to it that we are increasingly involved in traffic monitoring to counteract this,” says Sorgalla. “We now have our e-bikes in operation.” This would make it easier for cyclists to punish offenses.

There were six accidents under the influence of alcohol or drugs. “That is a comparatively small number,” says Süßbrich. After all, it is said "Drug trips are actually becoming more and more". The Planegger police also fished significantly more drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol from traffic than six.

The police in the Würmtal are vigilant. This also applies in the current year. There is a difference to 2019. Sorgalla: "This year, people often do not know exactly what applies now and what does not."
