Will another senior military man make his way into politics, the Knesset and the opposition? Depends on who you ask.

"Israel Today" has learned that between Tel Aviv chairman MK Moshe (Boogie) Ya'alon and Maj. Gen. (Res.) Giora Island, who previously headed the National Security Council, contacts have recently been made in an attempt to add him to Ya'alon's party ahead of the next election.

While Ya'alon claimed to his men that the contacts were progressing, Island in a conversation last night with "Israel Today" denies the things as a skilled politician.

In an internal and secret conversation Ya'alon had with his men at the beginning of last week, and the details of which we reveal here, the MK informed the top of the TLAM party that "there are girls against Giora Island to join him for second place on the TLM list." .

According to a source close to the details, Ya'alon clarified to his people that "they are unequivocally going to the polls." It is therefore being prepared to strengthen its list, which is still operating within the framework of what remains of the union between Yesh Atid and TLM.

Island, it will be recalled, previously served as, among others, the head of the Operations Division and the head of the Planning Division, and headed the National Security Council.

Last night, Island responded: "I'm not in touch with Boogie. I've known him for 40 years. I met with him and we talked about a lot of things, about political reality, including an option for me to get into politics. Not specific to TLM or any other party. We are very far from the girls, not even an offer came from him. I meet with a lot of politicians and public figures. "

On the other hand, it was stated on behalf of MK Ya'alon in response to the remarks: "The chairman of TLAM holds meetings with elements from inside and outside the political system in a continuous manner and has publicly stated this. "Ya'alon is indeed doing and will continue to make every effort to add people of action with experience, integrity and values who are willing to take responsibility in order to return the country to its furrow."

Courtship after the protesters

In the same conversation, Ya'alon shared with his people that he was trying to mobilize a "leading face," in his own words, from the black flag protest. Ya'alon turned to social activist and activist of the Black Flags organization, Orly Bar-Lev. He also contacted Brigadier General (Res.) Amir Hashakel, who made headlines recently after being arrested for a day while demonstrating in front of the Prime Minister's House. The two refused to accept his invitation.

Relying on the same sources who were present at that meeting, Ya'alon also referred to the apparent entry of former Chief of Staff Gadi Izenkot into politics and clarified that he would not join the TLM, but it is possible that the Yesh Atid party would.

In a conversation with his people, Ya'alon clarified that he wanted to recruit "loyal people" for the next election, thus hinting at MKs Zvika Hauser, Yoaz Handel and Gadi Yabarkan, who chose to leave him. The first in favor of the independent party "Derech Eretz" and the last left for the Likud.

After the wave of departures, Ya'alon is left with MKs Orly Froman, whose position on his list will not change, compared to Andrei Kozenov, who is expected to be pushed down the list following the new recruits.

Ya'alon also has a variety of other connections besides the one that exists with Lapid. He said the two would run as one unit, although according to his associates "Boogie did not rule out a reunion in blue and white in the future, but not in the near future".
