6 men and women arrested for illegal sparrow stall in Tsuen Wan

Police officers from the Special Duty Squad of Tsuen Wan Police District took an anti-illegal gambling operation at 8 o'clock last night (August 10), raided a unit at No. 136 Chung On Street, Tsuen Wan, smashed a suspected illegal mahjong gambling stall and seized 3 units. Electric sparrow machine, 6 sets of sparrows and about 12,000 yuan in gambling money. All arrested persons are now being detained for investigation. During the operation, the police arrested a 37-year-old female person in charge surnamed Guo Weidi on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment" and "violating conditions of stay", and a 68-year-old local man surnamed Lai on suspicion of "assisting in operating a gambling establishment." In addition, four local male "gamblers", aged between 47 and 57, were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in a gambling establishment". Four people and a 37-year-old woman surnamed Guo were also suspected of violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Ordinance (Chapter 599G), and the police issued a fixed penalty notice to them.
