The Presidency of the Lebanese Republic announced today that President Michel Aoun has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Hassan Diab's government and asked it to continue conducting business until a new government is formed.
The Lebanese National Information Agency quoted the Director General of the Presidency of the Republic Antoine Choucair as saying in a statement: "The President of the Republic thanked the resigned prime minister and the ministers and asked them to continue conducting business until the new government is formed."
Diab had announced earlier today that he had submitted the resignation of his government to the Lebanese President.
