This is how the week of August 10 begins in the ten Latin American countries most affected by the virus, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University. 


Covid-19: Brazil exceeds 3 million cases and 100,000 deaths 3:54

(CNN Spanish) -  Outbreaks, new restrictions, some countries still in the first wave, the world is facing a covid-19 pandemic that does not seem close to its end and that adds almost 20 million infections globally.

America is the continent hardest hit by the coronavirus, with the United States adding more than 5 million cases and Brazil, 3 million.

This is how the week of August 10 begins in the ten Latin American countries most affected by the virus, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University. 

🇧🇷 Brazil

Confirmed cases: 3,035,422

Deaths: 101,049

This Saturday, Brazil surpassed 100,000 deaths from coronavirus.

🇲🇽 Mexico

Confirmed cases: 480,278

Deaths: 52,298

Starting this August 12, cinemas, museums and swimming pools will be able to reopen to 30% of their capacity with strict measures and sanitary filters in Mexico City. In the case of bars, they may only open as restaurants and with restricted hours until 10:00 p.m.

The government of the capital took the measure due to the decrease in hospitalizations for coronavirus.

🇵🇪 Peru

🇨🇴 Colombia

Confirmed cases: 387,481

Deaths: 12,842

This Sunday, the Colombian Ministry of Health reported through a statement that 10,611 new cases of covid-19 and 302 deaths were registered.

To date, 212,688 people have recovered from the virus.

🇨🇱 Chile

Confirmed cases:  373,056

Deaths:  10,077

This Sunday, the Ministry of Health of Chile reported through a statement that 2,036 new cases of covid-19 and 66 people died.

🇦🇷 Argentina

Confirmed cases:  246,499

Deaths:  4,606

This Sunday, the Ministry of Health of Argentina reported through a statement that 6,134 new cases of covid-19 and 33 people died.

🇪🇨 Ecuador

Confirmed cases:  94,459

Deaths:  5,922

This Sunday, the Ministry of Health of Ecuador reported through a statement that there are 94,459 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 5,922 deceased people.

🇧🇴 Bolivia

Confirmed cases:  89,999

Deaths:  3,640

With the number of 944 new confirmed cases of coronavirus this Sunday, Bolivia added a total of 89,999 positive cases nationwide, according to the latest report published by the Ministry of Health.

The country registers 3,640 deaths, 29,808 recovered patients, 14,616 suspected cases, and 86,309 discarded cases, according to the report.

🇩🇴 Dominican Republic

Confirmed cases:  79,732

Deaths:  1,309

The Ministry of Public Health of the Dominican Republic reported 954 new cases of coronavirus this Sunday, so the total number of confirmed cases in the country increased to 79,732. The Ministry also reported 20 new deaths, adding a total of 1,309 deaths from covid-19.

🇵🇦 Panama

Deaths:  1,639

This Sunday, Panama reported 841 new cases and 30 deaths in the last 24 hours.
