In its appeal noted million According to Zandberg, videos released after the incident show some plainclothes police officers talking to the attackers, but not arresting them. "I approached them asking them to arrest the attackers - and I came across opacity." Shay Skeller

Documentation of the attack on the protesters shows men dressed in black beating with fists and batons, and even kicking brains on Fourth Street, near the Cinematheque plaza. The attackers are seen lurking for protesters, throwing stones and spraying pepper spray on them. According to the caption attached by the protesters to the documentation, it was only at a later stage that plainclothes police arrived at the scene.

Shai Skeller, a demonstrator who was attacked in the same incident and injured in the head, told about the case. "I was attacked by an organized group of gunmen with glass bottles, gas, pepper, batons and knives. They attacked me in the head with a sharp object," he said. "I then continued with a bunch of brave protesters to chase after them and document them with the aim of filing a complaint with the police, but then it was revealed to me that at least three of the people who were with them were undercover cops."

"I approached them asking them to stop the attackers, call another car so I could file a complaint, or call me for medical treatment while I was bleeding - and I came across opacity," the protester testified.

Scalar joined the claims of other protesters about the inability of the police to secure them. He said, "The police are no longer here to protect public order, but are here to protect the instigator sitting in Balfour. I call on all citizens of democratic Israel - not to succumb to terrorism and continue to go out and demonstrate, and fight for our country."

Police then claimed that the officers were not undercover. "During the recent protests, including the one in Tel Aviv, no special police units were activated," they clarified. "At this stage there is no intention to activate them in the context of protests."

In response to allegations of attacking protesters, the Israel Police stated that "we take violence of any kind seriously, whether it is directed at civilians or at police. Last night there were many processions that did not coordinate with the police in advance." It was also reported that "the police have begun investigating the various incidents, with police investigators collecting all the materials related to violent incidents that took place last night and the police intend to act accordingly against those involved."
