The Deputy Minister of Defense and the Deputy Prime Minister will deliver speeches and give an overview at the beginning of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting.

The Deputy Minister of Defense and the Deputy Prime Minister, MK Bnei Gantz, will arrive this morning (Monday) at the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, chaired by MK Zvi Hauser, where the Defense Minister is expected to make a statement and review at the beginning of the meeting. Ganz's appearance on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee comes against the backdrop of ongoing security alert on the northern border and the southern border.

The recent tension on the northern border stems from friction with the Hezbollah organization in Lebanon and in the south, against the background of the launching of incendiary and explosive balloons from Gaza towards Israel. At the same time, the replacement prime minister is expected to update on the activities of the Ministry of Defense and the IDF in everything related to the fight against the spread of the corona virus in the country.

In a statement issued by the Knesset, it was explained that the meeting will be held with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, and the discussion will take place in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, except for the opening statements of MK Ganz and the committee's chairman, MK Zvi Hauser. It was further stated that due to the restrictions of the corona, entry into the media will not be allowed.

The defense minister's appearance before the committee comes after last night, an IDF spokesman confirmed that an aircraft of an attacking post of the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip was attacked, in response to the blowing up of explosive balloons from the Gaza Strip to Israel during the day. 

At the same time, the defense minister appears before the committee even when there is tension on the northern border, after it was decided in recent days to maintain security readiness on the northern border, after the violent explosion that shook the Lebanese capital last week.
