MK Yariv Levin this morning referred to the understandings reached: "This is not what we meant when the government was formed" • He added: "A great effort must be made to prevent elections" • A compromise was reached yesterday that will prevent the dissolution of the Knesset in about two weeks. The budget for November

After the Likud and Blue and White overnight managed to reach a compromise regarding the postponement of the vote on the state budget, which led to a temporary solution to the political crisis that threatened to drag the country to the elections for the fourth time in two years, Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin The Likud's agreement to a compromise is a gesture of goodwill on the part of the Prime Minister. He went on to emphasize that the compromise: The temporary order requires a stable government, it is impossible to continue on the current path. "

Later in the interview, the Speaker of the Knesset said that the current political situation did not allow the government to function properly and said: "This is not what we meant when this government was formed." He added that despite the disagreements between the parties, efforts must be made to prevent another crisis. Great to prevent elections, but unfortunately we are still very far from a solution. In a conversation I had with the prime minister, he instructed me to make a supreme effort to reach understandings. "

Last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed MKs Zvi Hauser and Yoaz Handel of the Derech Eretz faction, which belongs to a bloc of blue and whites in the government, that he was directing the Likud faction to support their initiative to postpone the vote on the state budget. Shortly afterwards Blue and White also announced that it would support the initiative. As stated, this means that the political crisis that threatened to lead Israel to a fourth election in less than two years has apparently been resolved, at least temporarily.

"The initiative will allow the Likud and Blue and White the time, in parallel with the promotion of the law, to reach a comprehensive solution of all disputes between them to ensure the day-to-day functioning of the government and prevent elections," Derech Eretz said in a statement. While the Likud demands an annual budget in light of the corona crisis, in blue and white they demand a biennial budget as stipulated in the coalition agreement.

If the Knesset had not approved the state budget in about two weeks and the vote on it had not been postponed, then it would have been automatically dispersed and Israel would have gone to the polls. In such a scenario, Netanyahu would have remained prime minister between the dissolution of the Knesset and the elections, despite the coalition agreement with Blue and White.

A senior Likud, said tonight: "As promised, the prime minister is doing everything to avoid elections and reach a solution that would allow the continued operation of the government, to make the decisions necessary to combat Corona headed by the budget of billions in aid to the citizens of Israel.

" The Likud believes in an immediate annual budget to help citizens and businesses get out of the crisis. We agreed to accede to the request of the Derech Eretz faction to give one last chance for compromise. This is not the time for politics, this is the time for unity and the struggle in Corona, and this is what the Prime Minister is doing. We expect a white brush to focus mainly - a war in Corona and the transfer of funds and grants to Israeli citizens - and to avoid dragging the State of Israel into unnecessary elections. "

Our bill will go up for a preliminary reading in the plenum on Wednesday, and that is a welcome step forward.

Elections during the Corona crisis and in light of the security challenges we face will be a fatal blow to the national interest and the Israeli public. Everything is being done to prevent the madness of going to the fourth election and to promote political stability and unity. https://t.co/lT7bY0vGns

Blue and White said that "we congratulate the Likud for its commitment to maintaining political and public stability in Israel. Blue and White will do everything in its power to prevent terrible elections for Israeli citizens in the midst of one of the most serious crises in the country's history. We will support amending the existing law." The country deserves certainty and stability at this time, and we will continue to do so. "

According to estimates, the initiative is expected to postpone the decision on the budget issue for about three months, thus allowing the stability of the government at least until winter - as long as no new disputes arise between the parties.
