His eldest son Li Jianen and second son Li Yaoen were arrested on suspicion of "conspiracy to defraud" In addition, four other senior officials of the Next Media Group were arrested on suspicion of "collaborating with foreign or foreign forces to endanger national security" and "conspiracy to defraud."

At 7 o'clock this morning, the police went to Lai Zhiying’s mansion on Kadoorie Road in Homantin to investigate. At about 9:30, Lai Zhiying was handcuffed and left in a seven-person car by police officers. It was also reported that Lai Zhiying’s second son, Lai Yaoen, was also involved. Assisted in the investigation at the Saigon residence. Li Zhiying’s assistant Mark Simon posted on Twitter, confirming that the detectives came to Li Zhiying and his son’s apartment to search for evidence with a search warrant.
