It is reported that the police arrested Li Zhiying, the founder of Next Media Group, for violating the "National Security Law", and went to his mansion on Kadoorie Road, Homantian for investigation at 7 o'clock this morning. He is suspected of colluding with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security; he also alleged that he was involved in fraud. In addition, it is reported that Li Zhiying's second son, Lai Yao-en, also assisted in the investigation at his residence in Saigon. Li Zhiying’s assistant Mark Simon posted on Twitter, confirming that the detectives came to Li Zhiying and his son’s apartment to search for evidence with a search warrant. At 9:34 in the morning, Li Zhiying was handcuffed and escorted into a seven-man vehicle by police officers.

A total of 7 persons are known to be arrested, including several senior executives of Next Media such as Chief Executive Officer Zhang Jianhong, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Zhou Daquan, Chief Executive Officer of Next Media Huang Weiqiang, General Manager of Next Media Animation Wu Daguang; Li Zhiying and his two sons Li Jianen And Li Yaoen. Mark Simon is wanted by the police.

The 72-year-old Li Zhiying is involved in lawsuits. 15 pan-democrats, including him, were accused of participating in and organizing unapproved gatherings during the anti-amendment campaign from August to October last year.
