The Haute-Savoie prefecture invited mountaineers who wish to climb Mont-Blanc on Monday August 10 to postpone their ascent because of the rockfall which intensifies on the classic route leading to its summit because of the heatwave.

According to the prefecture, the stone falls at the Aiguille du Goûter, the summit near which the refuge where the normal access route to Mont-Blanc starts, were " particularly important and regular " today " due to of the heat wave ”.
In total, three rescues were initiated by the Chamonix high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) on Monday on the Aiguille du Goûter for mountaineers victims of rockfall while they were in the Goûter corridor. They suffered minor injuries and were hoisted to the Chamonix hospital center.
