(CNN) - Simon Cowell gave important advice after the accident that ended up in the hospital.
The "America's Got Talent" jury ruled in a tweet Sunday after a fall from his new bike left him in the hospital, where he had to undergo surgery.
A Cowell spokeswoman told CNN on Sunday that the former "American Idol" judge broke his back in several places while testing a new electric bike in the back of his home in Malibu, California.
"Good advice ... If you buy an electric bike, read the manual before riding it for the first time," wrote Cowell. «I broke part of my back. Thank you all for your kind messages, ”he wrote.

He also had some words of thanks for those who helped take care of him.

Cowell, 60, was with his family at the time of the accident, his representative told CNN.
He has a son with his partner, Lauren Silverman.
