The incident happened after a member of his team whispered something in his ear. Secret Service employees took him out of the room, and according to the US broadcaster CNN, the White House was completely cordoned off for a short time.
The background is apparently a firearms incident in front of the White House. After a short time, Trump returned to the briefing room and stated that the Secret Service had shot at a person outside of his official residence. During the brief lockdown, he was taken to the Oval Office.
According to the US President, the person was armed and injured and was taken to hospital. The press conference on the US fight against the spread of the corona virus continued after the moment of shock.
