This suggestion by Markus Seemüller (FWG) caused unrest in the Miesbach city council: The city is to hold talks with the Stadtwerke München (SWM) on how the expansion area of the northern industrial area can be used for other purposes, at least temporarily. After a non-public consultation, the city council gave the green light.

Miesbach - The fact that the subject has explosive power was obvious at the most recent meeting of the Miesbach city council. No sooner had the item on the agenda been called up than Alfred Mittermayer (CSU) put the motion to the rules of procedure to move the topic immediately to the non-public part. His reason: affected personal rights.

However, he did not explain where these should be. Because the stumbling block - Markus Seemüller, Aline Brunner, Michael Lechner and Andreas Reischl from the Free Voters parliamentary group had requested an “initial discussion with the Munich municipal utilities about current and future opportunities for cooperation” - does not actually affect any such. In essence, it is also about an area that belongs exclusively to the city. There she wants to expand her business park north, but is currently not allowed to. The reason is the ongoing process to expand the Thalham-Reisach-Gotzing water protection zone.

Seemüller reacted with astonishment to Mittermaier's initiative: “I don't think that this procedure is permissible under local law. We are welcome to vote on it, but first I want to at least present our proposal publicly. ”What Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) also saw: first present the proposal, then vote.

Seemüller's approach was quickly presented. Ten years ago, the city acquired the three hectare extension area at a "decent price". Since then, nothing has happened - the procedure for the water protection zone restricts the city. However, since it can be assumed that the city of Munich will grow by 400,000 inhabitants in the next 15 years, the Free Voters expect that the pressure on the district of Miesbach as a recreational area from the state capital will also increase.

The solution here could be cooperation, explained Seemüller, pointing out that the contracts concluded in 1992 between farmers in the protected area and the SWM were a "visionary idea". He also signed such a contract. That is why the city should now hold talks with the municipal utilities in order to do business with local recreation on an area “that we cannot use as we want”.

In the subsequent vote it was decided with 16: 8 votes that the topic would not be discussed publicly. In addition to Seemüller, Brunner, Manfred Burger (Greens), Paul Fertl, Inge Jooß, Hedwig Schmid and Florian Perkmann (all SPD), Markus Baumgartner was the only CSU representative to vote for the public.

When asked by our newspaper, Baumgartner explained that he did not follow his parliamentary group: "If you don't talk to each other, you won't get together." The entire dispute over water is a Gordian knot that is actually easy to untie. “If usage rights are restricted more, more compensation is needed. That should be improved. "

More city councilors joined behind closed doors that one should enter into a dialogue. As Mayor Braunmiller reported when our newspaper asked, it was decided to hold talks with the municipal utilities. There were "only a few votes against". “The topic of the water protection zone is strictly separated.” There should be an appointment after the summer vacation.

Braunmiller explains that the fact that the topic was not dealt with publicly was also in his interest: “It was about land with a certain value.” He thinks that makes sense.
