The Democratic presidential candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, has reached a decision on the identity of his deputy and was expected to announce his election today or in the coming days, CNN reported.
Biden has previously pledged to elect a woman to the post of deputy and since then a number of names have been released including Senator Kamela Harris and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice. Both are reportedly considered leading candidates.
Despite the pressure on Biden to choose an African-American candidate, Biden did not commit to it but only to choose a woman. A few days ago it was reported that he met with Michigan State Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Biden has previously pledged to announce his candidacy earlier this month but that date has been postponed. He must now present his election in light of the fact that next week the Democratic convention will be held.
According to reports in the American media, Biden was undecided about his choice, in part, because of his desire to restore the close relationship he had as vice president with President Barack Obama.
