The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the cancellation of the visit of the Turkish Minister of Defense to Iraq, scheduled for next Thursday, in protest against the Turkish aggression on northern Iraq.
A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry tonight, reported by the Iraqi News Agency, said that “Iraq categorically rejects and strongly condemns the blatant Turkish aggression in the Sidakan area in the northern province of Erbil. Ambassador of the Turkish regime and delivered a strongly worded protest note.
The statement pointed out that the repetition of such acts and failure to respond to the demands of Iraq is a reason to reconsider the volume of cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier today, at least twenty people were killed and wounded as a result of a Turkish aggression targeting Erbil Governorate, northern Iraq.
Earlier today, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, called on the Turkish regime forces to give clarifications about the crime of their aggression against the northern Iraqi governorate of Arbil, in order to preserve good neighborliness and relations between the two countries.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime forces have repeatedly violated the sanctity of Iraqi lands and were stationed at the end of 2015 in the Bashiqa area near the city of Mosul in northern Iraq, which was confirmed by the Iraqi government that it constitutes aggression and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and in violation of the rules of international law and demanded the withdrawal of Turkish forces.
