"He is indicted for assassination and attempted assassination", indicates the Créteil prosecutor's office requested by Le Parisien . But having "exercised his right to a delay before the debate before the judge of freedoms and detention", the 20-year-old man is therefore "in provisional imprisonment".
The driver left free but placed under judicial control

For the record, that evening, Karim was in the parking lot of the residence where his parents also live on the heights of the city. He had found them for dinner accompanied by his 8-year-old daughter, whom he was about to take on vacation. So it was in full preparations for departure that he went down to look for a bag in his car parked at the foot of the building.
He knew that a man had been shouting in the neighborhood for several minutes already. Aggressive and visibly drunk, according to many witnesses, the latter said he was looking for a lost jewel. And if it turns out that he lives in the building opposite, the "tall thin with the blonde dye" was until now unknown to this public housing residence.
He will multiply back and forth to the parking lot after dark, no less than three times in less than an hour. While becoming increasingly threatening: first without an apparent weapon, then with a knife he brandished and finally a pistol hidden behind his back.
The family "revolted" by the release
In the presence of Karim's father and neighbors, who came down to the parking lot to reason with him, the intruder suddenly pointed the loaded gun at the forty-something before pulling the trigger.
At least four detonations were heard. A bullet lodged in Karim's buttock hit the femoral artery. He died in the fire truck that evacuated him to the hospital.

As for the shooter? He ran to the vehicle parked further ahead before disappearing. The investigation entrusted to the departmental judicial police service should clarify the many gray areas. What could push a 20-year-old, apparently working for a sports club, to shoot a stranger in the middle of the street? Did the driver know what his passenger was planning? Was he in her grip?
The family of the victim, "revolted by the release" of one of the two suspects, awaits answers. But, more impatiently still, "permission to bury Karim".
