Beirut-Sana
A number of demonstrators in the center of the Lebanese capital Beirut once again pelted the Lebanese security forces with stones and fireworks, while the Lebanese Internal Security Forces called on the demonstrators to abide by peace.
The Lebanese National News Agency stated that members of the security forces responded by firing teargas canisters to drive away and disperse the demonstrators after they pelted them with stones and fireworks.
In a statement published today, the General Directorate of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces requested that the peaceful demonstrators immediately leave the places where the attacks take place in order to preserve their safety, stressing that it does not accept exposure to its members and that it will respond to the assault they are exposed to.
On the other hand, the Lebanese Red Cross announced that 12 of its divisions are now responding to calls in downtown Beirut and are working to transport the wounded and aid the injured during the demonstration that is taking place near the entrances to the Lebanese Parliament, in downtown Beirut.
Last Sunday, the Lebanese Army Command announced that 105 members of the army were wounded by stones, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails being thrown at the soldiers during the protests in Beirut the previous day.
