Russian President Vladimir Putin said the vaccine has proven effective during testing by offering long-lasting immunity against the virus.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that a domestically developed coronavirus vaccine has been registered for use and has already been supplied to one of his daughters.

At a government meeting, Putin said that the vaccine has proven effective during testing, offering long-lasting immunity against the coronavirus. Putin added that the vaccine underwent the necessary tests.

The researchers responsible for developing this potential vaccine have not published data regarding their findings. So far, the vaccine has only been tested in a few dozen people.

Despite Putin's claims, the long-term effects and safety of this potential vaccine are currently unclear. Some of the people who have been subjected to this potential antidote have experienced fever.

Russian authorities have said that medical workers, teachers and other risk groups will be the first to be vaccinated.

Many scientists at home and abroad have been skeptical, questioning the decision to register the vaccine before the Phase 3 trials that normally take place in these cases. These tests usually last for months and involve thousands of people.
