The Iraqi foreign ministry on Tuesday announced that it would cancel a visit by the Turkish defense minister and summon the Turkish ambassador after a Turkish drone killed two senior Iraqi officials in Kurdistan.

Baghdad will give the ambassador "a letter of protest including strong words to say that Iraq categorically refuses the aggressions and violations" of Ankara, which launched in mid-June an offensive in northern Iraq against the Party of Kurdish workers (PKK, Kurdish opposition from Turkey).
