Medan - A huge column of ash from the crater rises into the sky. A surveillance camera recorded the eruption of the Sinabung volcano on the island of Sumatra. The recordings show dramatic images. The volcano threw this dark cloud of smoke up more than seven kilometers , authorities of the island state announced. The outbreak therefore occurred at 8:53 a.m. local time. The eruption on Mount Sinabung was therefore 5000 meters above the summit and about 7,500 meters above sea level.

Sinaburg volcano - ash column rises for kilometers into the sky

The Sinabung has been active again since the weekend. On Saturday he had thrown ashes up more than 4,000 meters. In many places around the volcano in northern Sumatra, there was a thick layer of ash on roads, houses and cars. At first there were no reports of deaths or injuries.
